Alzheimers Disease International

Alzheimers NZ is a member of Alzheimer’s Disease International, the umbrella group for 84 Alzheimer’s disease organisations worldwide.

Representing people and nations on all continents, the organisation has become the Global Voice on Dementia.

ADI believes that the key to winning the fight against dementia lies in a unique association of Global Solutions and local knowledge. As such, it works locally, by empowering national Alzheimer associations to promote and offer care and support for people with dementia and their carers, whilst working globally to focus attention on the epidemic and campaign for policy change from governments and the World Health Organization.

World Alzheimers Month

Every year during September, Alzheimers Disease International runs a worldwide awareness initative for a month to enable Alzheimer's associations (such as Alzheimers NZ) to extend the reach of our awareness programmes over a longer period of time.

September also includes World Alzheimer's Day, the 21st of September. This is when ADI (Alzheimers Disease International) releases the annual World Alzheimer Report.

Alzheimers NZ also holds an event to launch the report locally, each year.
