Use social media

Almost all politicians and people in leading public office positions use social media. For many, it is the primary way they communicate with the public and local communities.

Alzheimers NZ has active social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter.

A really easy way to spread the word about national dementia advocacy activities is to share our posts with your own followers. You can write a message with the post and tag any local politicians/public figures so they will see it, and hopefully respond.

You can also send us posts we can share about how you are raising awareness of dementia.

Tips:

  • Keep the text in the posts themselves short and use links for more information if possible
  • Use short sentences and simple language
  • Tag relevant people or organisations using the ‘@’ function to maximise the chances that they will see the post
