Alzheimers Northland
Tena koutou, tena koutou, tena koutou katoa!
We provide free services for all people affected by dementia throughout Northland; from Te Hana in the South, to Te Kao in the Far North. Our main centre is in Whangarei, but there are also office bases in Kaitaia and Kerikeri.
We run eight sessions of Day Care (Alz Club) each week; for people with dementia in Whangarei (five days per week) and in Dargaville, Waipu and Kawakawa. These are highly enjoyable days for our clients, as we have a maximum of twelve attending; offering a wide range of activities and outings.
In addition to the Day Centre programme; we also have a team of Community Support workers who care for the family, whanau and caregivers of people with dementia.
We offer education, support, counselling, home visits, networking and access to other services. We continue this support even after the person with dementia has been placed in a residential care facility, or has passed away. Our support is then through our "Alz Galz and Guys" group, which is a facilitating group providing support and encouragement for one another.
