The sooner we know, the sooner we can help
Memory loss, forgetting people’s names or faces, an inability to do routine tasks, getting lost in familiar surroundings, or having difficulty keeping up with conversations can all be signs that something is not right.
These signs could be symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, or another form of dementia.
This website: wecanelp.org.nz will help you understand what dementia is and where to find support in your community for yourself, or someone you are concerned about. It is important to remember that you do not have to go through this alone – we can help.
About the campaign
The WeCanHelp campaign has been developed by Alzheimers New Zealand with the very generous support of the Minister of Health, Hon. Tony Ryall, and Pub Charity. It aims to raise awareness and understanding of dementia, so that those who have dementia or know someone who does, can have better access to the care and support they need. It is also hoped that greater understanding of dementia will dispel the fears and misconceptions about the disease – meaning that people will seek help sooner and the stigma surrounding dementia will be reduced.
