Keeping safe
Here are some tips to help you keep safe around the home.
- Make sure the appliances you use frequently have automatic shut offs
- Write reminders to yourself. For example, these may remind you to lock the door at night, put the rubbish out on a certain day or how to turn off your gas heater.
- Every home should have smoke detectors. Ensure that your home does. A smoke detector could save your life in case of fire.
- If somebody comes to your door and you don't recognise them, ask for their name and telephone number instead of letting them in. Then you or your family member can call them back later.
